Cruiser

For Lauren's birthday (Jan. 21), I had the idea of getting her a beach cruiser. She has wanted one for a while and we figured that this would be a fun surprise! A few friends as well as my parents and grandma pitched in to buy this electra cruiser! Happy Birthday beautiful sister!

Frames!

A little under a year ago we decided to paint the other bedroom in our condo. The color of it turned out really cool and we have slowly been putting the room together. Finally we have had a chance to put up some frames that we had gotten as wedding gifts. We really enjoy this room. We keep Erin’s desktop computer in here and we also have a futon that we got from Target. When people stay over it makes into a nice little bed. This is also the room that we have the aquarium in. Great little place to study and relax!

French Onion Soup

So, Gerrit started school again on the 3rd (He goes to Southern California University of Health Sciences and is in the Dual program which consists of Doctor of Chiropractic and Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). He is gone at school all day (8am-9pm) Monday - Thursday, and I dont go back until the 10th, which gives me an entire week of doing nothing, but waiting for my husband to come home..... and cook!

I love to cook. I have so much fun learning to recipes and being creative. For our wedding, we got a few new cook books, which I was so excite to try!

I have always wanted to make French Onion Soup, so yesterday I tried it! It did not totally turn out the way I would have liked, but hey! it was my first try! And it was still delicious!

When it comes to cutting onions, my eyes cant stand it. I cut those onions until the make up was running down my face and I could barely open my eyes. So I had an idea. Goggles. So ghetto. But it worked.
Bon Appetit!

Breathe

I was thinking about this today and found it to be a nice follow up to Erin’s previous post.

I am finding more and more that simple things in life are the most profound. Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathing. In the midst of all of our busyness and stress we forget to breathe. Take time to breathe deeply today. Your body will thank you. Your mind will thank you. Then thank God.

"Take time, slow down, be still, be awake to the Divine Mystery that looks so common and so ordinary yet is wondrously present." — Edward Hays

Lead me to the cross

Stress. It is that one thing in my life that overcomes me and practically takes over me and, believe it or not, dictates how I live. Its not that I mean for it to, I just have a very difficult time letting go and giving whatever it is I'm worrying about to the Lord. I have been constantly dealing with this for a few years now, have prayed about it and confided in my husband and friends and have finally realized that I am not fit to run my own life alone. My life belongs to the Lord. He created me. Even though I have known this my entire life, it has always been difficult for me to actually live like I am His. To fully give every single day and every single aspect of my life totally and completely to Jesus. On Sunday, I was challenged to give to God whatever I was holding on to that was keeping me from walking side by side with my King.

God, I'm giving you control. I am fully trusting that you will provide. That you will be everything that I need. I give my life to you, and allow you to be God and take care of the little things that I stress about.

My prayer is....

Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of mys
elf
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross
